TRAINING CONFERENCES
Officer Training Conference is hosted each year during the beginning of summer vacation. Officers are REQUIRED to attend this training event as it allows them to be acquainted with their peers and learn more about their position. General topics surrounding Key Club are also presented during this event. The DLT facilitates a majority of these workshops, but there may be guest presenters, such as alumni or District Board members. Although this is a mandatory event for officers, members are ENCOURAGED to join in on the action!
The most recent OTC was held on June 19th from 2-5PM over Zoom.
Region Training Conference is hosted each year by the current LTGs in a specific Region or combined Regions. In this case, the LTGs of Region 9 collaborate with the Region 17 LTGs, meaning that members from much of the Bay Area will be able to enjoy this event at Camp Jones Gulch in La Honda together! At RTC, there will be informative workshops to help you as well as other members in your club, ranging from marketing your club to officer workshops. RTC is held during the beginning of the school year. There is a lot of information that everyone can gain from attending, so it is highly encouraged that all members go to learn more about Key Club and how to be better leaders!
The most recent RTC was held from October 2nd to the 3rd at Camp Jones Gulch.
Candidate Training Conference* is held for members who are interested in being a potential candidate for office above the divisional level. It is mandatory to attend CTC to run for office above that of the LTG. However, it's optional to attend if you're interested in running for LTG. At CTC, participants learn about the challenges/rewards of being an LTG, the responsibilities that come with the role, ethics, and more. All paperwork must be turned in on time and to the proper recipients to be able to run for any office above the divisional level.
The most recent CTC was held on Sunday, December 5th from 9AM to 4PM at the I Can Do That! Performing Arts Center in Danville.
Winter Training Conference is held during the beginning of the term's 4th quarter. It is where officers who were not able to make it to OTC in the summer receive semi-formal training. Newly installed officers are trained in WTC. Potential officer candidates will also receive information about the position they're interested in running for. Other workshops include service projects, how to properly communicate with officers, adults, etc., and how to apply for various contests.
The most recent WTC was held on Saturday, January 29th from 3-5PM via Zoom.
*Note that there are different Candidate Training Conferences depending on the position you want to run for. District Officer Candidate Training Conference is MANDATORY for those that want to run for an Executive position (see CNH District). International Officer Candidate Training Conference is MANDATORY for anyone interested in running for International President, International VP, or International Trustee. This is a great opportunity to consider whether or not you want to campaign for District endorsement at DCON.*
