PREFERRED CHARITIES

The main goal of the Pediatric Trauma Program is to reduce the number of children that are killed or injured due to trauma. Unfortunately, unintentional injuries are the number one killer of children under fourteen. 90% of these injuries could have been prevented. PTP works to prevent such pediatric trauma by providing communities with outreach, education, and grants. PTP is partnered with many hospitals, some of which include Kapi’olani Children’s Hospital in Honolulu and Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. PTP provides grants to our partner hospitals, which helps them to provide communities with education materials, and safety equipment. When you donate to PTP, not only do you help prevent needless deaths, you also help communities, by providing them with the information they need to prosper.
During the 2020-21 term, we raised over $1,200 for PTP!
PTP is NOT an internationally-recognized preferred charity, but the CNH District focuses on it for its fundraising efforts!

“Hospitals helping kids.” Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) is a nonprofit that raises money to benefit hospitalized kids, while also raising funds and awareness for its member hospitals. Since 1983, CMN has helped fill children’s hospitals’ funding gaps by raising over $7 billion for 170 children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada. 62 children enter a CMN hospital every minute - that is nearly one child every second, all requiring treatment. All donations go directly towards helping these children, by conducting life-saving research, training staff, purchasing essential equipment, and paying for uncompensated care. For more than a decade, Key Club International has been sponsoring fundraisers and participating in service projects involving children’s hospitals in support of CMN. Donations to CMN create miracles, saving and improving the lives of 17 million children each year.

UNICEF - the largest procurer of vaccines in the world and one of the most recognizable children’s organizations across the globe. UNICEF is active in over 190 countries and territories, saving children’s lives and defending their rights. Since 1994, Key Club International has partnered with UNICEF to hold Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF, raising over $7 million to support iodine deficiency programs worldwide. Since 2010, Key Club has partnered with UNICEF on the Eliminate Project to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus.

1 in 8 babies in the U.S. are born premature. Premature births can happen to any pregnant woman, and the cause is still unknown. This is why Key Club has partnered with March of Dimes to help prevent prematurity. We help donate thousands of dollars every year. These funds go towards raising awareness surrounding premature birth and trying to reduce the rate of such births. Key Club has been working with MoD since the 1960s, and in the year 2009-10, we raised $100,000! With your help, March of Dimes has supported life saving research, new health advancements, and vaccines to help secure a safe and healthy birth for moms and babies all over the world.
